Vermicomposting
April 21, May 19, June 16 and September 15

Shipley Nature Center presents informative lectures on Vermicomposting (composting food scraps with worms) and Backyard Composting (traditional composting with yard waste and other organics). Learn how easily you can transform your kitchen scraps and backyard cuttings into rich compost for your plants and gardens.

Lectures will be held at Shipley Nature Center 17851 Goldenwest St. Huntington Beach 92647. The first is on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 2 pm to 4 pm. Repeat lectures will be on May 19th, June 16th and September 15th from 9 am to 11 a.m. Registration is $10.00 per person. Space is limited, so advance registration is required.

Composting units will be available for purchase at the lectures. For Huntington Beach residents only, the City of Huntington Beach is providing $50 vouchers to be used toward the purchase of a vermiculture composter or a traditional composting bin.

The 2012 Composting Education sessions are made possible by the City of Huntington Beach, Rainbow Environmental Services, Inc., The Friends of Shipley Nature Center and ENRECOS.
